After watching
's interiew with Scott Adkins here, I decided to watch the Bloodsport sequels on YouTube and came to a stark realization...
Back in the '90s,played Alex Cardo, a kumite fighter in Bloodsport 2 and Bloodsport 3.
Later, in Bloodsport 4, the same actor played a kumite fighter.
Only, he was suddenly John Cardo.
At first, this made absolutely no sense.
Then it clicked.
-
Flashbacks to events where he wasn’t present.
-
From thief to art dealer and father to undercover cop who suddenly has no son.
Years passed.
He never aged.
Survived several deadly fights, uninjured.
Lived through lethal injection.
What they never outright said but was evident all along:
Alex, or John, or whoever he is, didn’t just change careers; he changed centuries.
Yes, all along, we were watching a distant cousin franchise to Highlander.

They said there could be only one…
until there was Bloodsport.
Case in point: the same actor plays the same character under a different name in the recent reboot of Deathstalker (2025). I highly recommend this underrated gem, where the immortal Kumite master takes on a freaking warlock.
